Ydwer van der Heide

Meet Ydwer, the water sports photographer who travels around the world, capturing breathtaking moments with a unique perspective. His epic photo book “Unseen” got released very recently, it contains stunning visuals of kite surfers and jaw dropping backdrops.

Despite facing challenges, he sees opportunities where others see limitations. “Where it stops for others, it begins for me,” Ydwer says with determination.

In February 2021, he experienced a surfing accident that left him in a wheelchair. But that hasn’t stopped him from pursuing his passions with unwavering enthusiasm. “It’s no different,” Ydwer shares. “I see my life in a wheelchair as the biggest challenge so far.”

Photography, the great outdoors, the sea, and sports are even more important than ever before. Giving up is not in his vocabulary. “I have the drive to always keep going’, “Giving up is my worst skill.” As a positive thinker, he has a natural ability to motivate and activate others simply by being himself. “How beautiful is that? Ydwer says with a smile.

Ydwer plays an important role at Kinetic Balance by providing the development team with important feedback. His love for the outdoors and technical apparel are priceless for the Research & Development of new and improved chair riding apparel.
